Recently Deb Goodman asked me to do some work with her young Gypsy X
filly. The filly was 3 years old, Deb had put a saddle and bridle on her
and had led her around with kids on her back, she had also been shown in
hand. Deb needed me to ride her and teach her to "steer". I only had one
week to do this work and Deb agreed that I should do as much as I could
in that time and I could finish her later if needs be. The filly was by
John Brodie a Gypsy cob stallion and a Spoken in Jest mare.
I pretty much
saddled Leander [as the filly was called] lunged her around a little
,then climbed on and rode her. She obliged me very nicely and was soon
turning both left and right at a walk and a trot. The next day I rode
her in a little forestry bloke nearby where I fine tuned her turning by
going in and out of and around trees. Finishing with a ride round the
block and through the creek.
I rode her 3 more days, then Deb came and rode her and took
her home. Normally I would not agree to doing 5 days on an
unbroken horse before sending it home but in this case it seems to have
worked. I found Leander to be a very gentle good natured filly with good
forward movement and lively when she was required to be. This is the
first horse of Gypsy breeding I have worked with and I must say I am
impressed. This little mare is powerfully built but with a good free
stride and a lively attitude, combined with her good nature and gentle
disposition she will turn out to be quite a little athlete. If this
filly is indicative of what Gypsy Cobs are about "let there be plenty
more"

I recently purchased Westfield Muffin and Westfield Truffle from Bridget Allison of Westfield Stud. She was very helpful arranging the transport and advising me on insurance etc prior to getting ponies. She is very pleasant to deal with. When the ponies arrived they were lovely. I purchased these ponies without having seen them in person. They are both lovely, I have had many people admire both the mare and foal. I am very pleased with the purchase and would like to thank Bridget for making it such an easy transfer. I high recommend Westfield Stud for its quality horses and ponies and very helpful owners. I have been breeding horses for a
number of years and would like to recommend Bridget & Murray of
Westfield Stud for their professional, understanding attitude. They
are always helpful and as I usually take my mare to be served and
take her home the same day, they always put themselves out to
accommodate my mare. AND I LOVE JOHN BRODIE!!!

I
have known Bridget for the past couple of years and have found her and
her husband to be extremely honest, friendly and very easy to deal with.
They have a great property with excellent facilities that is always tidy
and well maintained. I have been sending my mare to Bridget and Murray
for the past few years, my first foal was from Kaha Warrior, who was a
lovely little colt. I then sent her back to John Brodie the following
year, she has had an exceptional foal from that union, who I have to say
is one of easiest foals I have had to date....actually, she was so great
I then decided to buy another two mares to put to John Brodie, so I am
now expecting another two foal’s this season. I am also intending to
send my mares back to Bridget and Murray for next season. My mares have
received excellent care in all respects while at Westfield Stud and I
would not hesitate to recommend Bridget and Murray to any prospective
breeders or buyers. Deb Lawson |

I highly recommend
anyone sending their mare to Westfield Stud. I sent my TB mare up there
in 07 to get infoal to John Brodie. She came back in good condition and
had been very well taken care of. I found Bridget to be totally honest,
very careful, professional and helpful. My colt foal is exactly what I hoped for, he has lovely markings, a gorgeous head and is very well put together. He has a wonderful personality, is really laid back, super friendly, very clever and alot of fun! Charmaine from Waikaia, Southland. |

I have know and dealt
with Bridget for 18 months now, I thoroughly recommend Westfield Stud
owned by Bridget and Murray Allison to anyone who is contemplating
breeding or purchasing, their service is extremely experienced, safe,
efficient, supportive, knowledgeable and more. I truly believe
they are some of the last genuine honest horse breeders left !!!
I can not speak highly enough of them, I purchased a lovely xbred mare
in foal to Kaha Warrior and have since done a few more deals with
absolutely no hassles and total honesty. Personally I have found
Bridget and Murray to be more friends than just the stud..... lovely
people, fantastic set up and great back up. Kaha Warrior himself
is a direct reflection of the whole setup, great temperament, manners
and conformation with a reputation that speaks for itself in his
progeny. I am proud to be a happy client and thoroughly recommend
them to anyone!! Kristen Hubbard |

I like to ride calm,
sensible and capable horses so when I decided to breed I chose Kaha
Warrior for my mare. I am thrilled with the resulting coloured filly
which is the calmest and most willing foal I've bred. Bridget and
Murray's property is well set up for stud duties and I will be sending
my mare back to Kaha Warrior. Wendy Britten |

I would like to thank
you for letting me purchase my lovely Black and White colt from you.
‘Face Value 2’ aka ‘Oreo’. He has developed into a very nice sport horse with the loveliest nature. He is everything I hoped for and more. As you know he has been shown only twice in hand as a foal and as a yearling with huge success. Now recently started under saddle I now know I have a ‘Rolls Royce’ to ride. I have never started a youngster as well mannered as ‘Oreo’ his go any where and do any thing attitude is quite remarkable. I have often contemplated competing a stallion instead of the usual TB rehabs and now I have one and he is also true BLACK & WHITE, my favorite color. Recently we free jumped him over 1.05m and to my excitement he has a very nice bascule, a perfect kick out the back and each time he came around he snapped his knees up higher. What more could I ask for. Oreo had two very good jumping mares visit him and both scanned positive so we are looking forward to see if he will pass on his lovely type and temperament and hopefully some paint! I can thoroughly recommend purchasing from the Allison’s. I took a risk as I purchased sight unseen after studying pictures and videos of him at approx two weeks but he has turned out better than I could have hoped for. Thanks and good luck with the placement of your youngsters. Cheers, Chrissy Hansen |
